The historic inn sign adorning the oriel of the Nova Ponente hotel, Hotel Gasthof Stern, features a star that resembles a comet. A fitting symbol, since comets have guided travellers throughout history – and so does our hotel. Those who stay here know: they have truly arrived.
We belong to the „Terroir“
This feeling of arrival stems from the unique character of our house, first mentioned in the 15th century. Located directly on the traffic-calmed village square, the Gasthof Stern has always been a true village inn for the people of Nova Ponente.
Since the 1930s, it has been family-run by the Brunner-Pfeifer family, where hospitality is a deeply rooted tradition. Paul and Elisabeth, the youngest generation, welcome guests at reception and manage service; Paul is also the house’s wine expert. His mother Theresia ensures every day starts right with a fresh breakfast, while her sister Johanna leads the kitchen, especially the desserts – so good, even the locals drop in for a slice of homemade cake.
It’s clear: Hotel Gasthof Stern isn’t a remote island, it’s part of village life. As Paul, our sommelier, puts it: “We are part of the terroir.” And our guests? Almost like family – certainly part of the community.
